Our Kenyan Men!
It all begins with an idea.
Women/wives/mothers in Kenya are burying men/husbands/sons everyday, young old and in-between. How do you explain what is happening in Kenya; to our men! Why are they drinking so much? They are drinking to their deaths and women are being turned into Super-Superwomen and Widows over night.
Young men in Kenya are spending their times drowning their sorrows and insecurities (or thats my view), as what could make you drink so much. They usually use meetings as excuses to meet business associates or their friends, to drink! I have had meetings which begin with a bottle of wine or beer offered to me before we even get started. Someone needs to find out what is going on.
Cirrhosis of the liver, Anemia, Cancer, Heart disease or stroke-Cardiovascular disease,Dementia, Depression, Gout, Blood pressure, Pancreatitis these are some of the diseases that heavy drinking causes. Some of the these diseases caused by drinking and are prevalent in Kenya, and in our Kenyan men.
An article on drinking

Why is it that in Kenya, when someone in power does something good for the country they are quickly removed from office? like Mututho….. Where are our white hats? The dark side of the world rules Kenya too hard, we need some good to come through somewhere. Politicians are burying their sons from this same issue every year, whether they want to admit it or not! Why wouldn’t this cause them to care or do something? BUT they do nothing. Corruption is the order of the day. Drink driving? What are the consequences? Illegal levels of drinking allowed by bar owners; What’s up with that?
I actually thought that with Uhuru coming in to state house that we had some hope of change, but we will just leave it there… !!!!
I just feel we need an intervention into our mens behavior in Kenya.
BTW – I am not talking to those men who run their lives with honor and grace. I am talking to those men who need saving. I see you and please know this comes from a place of love! We need you…more than we let on..
God rest our Kenyan men in peace and for those men who are still alive…. I am praying for you always. That God may strengthen you and change and renew your minds to manage this new world and its pressures. May you run to God rather than the bottle. One kills and the other saves!
TRUST God
It all begins with an idea.
Know who you are and why you are here…
I have had the hardest 2 weeks of my life (hard times always seems this way) but truly these two weeks have been bad.
I had just come back home from a gig in UG and half my tooth fell off. Immediately I started to feel like I was swallowing something bitter. Long story short I had an infection that has got so bad it was in my bone on my face and now I was swallowing it into my stomach. I was in surgery 3 days later to take out my tooth and put in a metal rod that would hold my new tooth. Going under is scary cause you don’t know if you will wake. Since then I have had a running stomach and have been week and unable to function at full capacity. I AM WOMAN so i’m still doing everything I do everyday but struggling. Pain in my face and all. In the same two weeks I was entertaining my sister in law from London who seemed to be on a role with me and on top of that my husband and I went through a rough patch (as married people do). My nanny also decides she wants extra days off so we decided to part ways. I have a Guinness gig on Sat the 12th in Nairobi and my passport is still with the embassy being renewed so I have to drive to Pretoria an hour away to get an emergency passport and on the same day I had been to the doctors and he says “we are going to have to admit you”. PHEW!!!!!!
NOW what is really going on….through it all the message was…….TRUST God and he will see you through………..I have my emergency passport, my husband and I made up, while in hospital I rested (which i needed), I have a new maid who doesn’t even want a day off till the end of the month, I am well and healed, and I now know where Pretoria is…
Always make sure you take the time to resolve your thoughts and perspective.
He said in this life we will have trouble but He will deliver us out of them all, if we believe in Him, with prayer and supplication.
No matter what you are going through TRUST God and all will be well and remember while you’re trusting have a good, no, great attitude!!!!!!
Love Always
My day when I sang for the president
It all begins with an idea.
So Habida is not and has never been star struck. I have always said that all people are equal no matter what your situation. The thing that may make you look like you are smaller or bigger or better is how you carry yourself and how you make others feel. Usually the person that has to make another person feel small to feel bigger is usually a person who has issues and so on and so forth.
So on the 1st of June, which is Madaraka day. Habida was invited to perform at state house for the President of Kenya and his distinguished guests. You would not not believe my excitement. I was chuffed, extremely overwhelmed, I would have really done this for free! but hindsight is twenty, twenty! One of the officials who called me had said it was my duty in serving my country, but I didn’t really realize it until I was there standing inform of the president singing my song. I loved it!
I was on time for the rehearsals and so was the band amazingly as that is usually not the case in Nairobi, you always have to wait for either the drummer, guitarist, back up singer etc. I suppose they felt the honour in doing this as well. We also were in time for the gig, at the gate smack on 12pm.
Now here comes the experience. Lets start with the security, they put us in lines and then called out names according to groups and we went in band by band, or artist by artist.
We got to the next section, which was where the artists or performers were to be fed and boy oh boy we were treated worse than anything I have ever seen. There was a serving area with less than mediocre food apparently catered by Serena. (Now if I was Serena I would be embarrassed to put my name on food like that….Kenyans aren’t we interested in quality and maintaining a good name? anyway) We were served food standing in an open field kind of thing, no chairs, no tables, no nothing and to top it all off there were hawks swooping and grabbing food off your plate. Needless to say I didn’t eat!
We did our sound check and then sat in the artist area, which was nice seating and then performance after performance happened. I went on early as I had a flight thank goodness as the entertainment left much to be desired and the sound was dreadful.
My turn came and I stood there with my cold and all sore throat and all, ready to sing for the president and can you believe I was nursing the worst cold ever. I couldn’t believe it and all the dust swarming around didn’t help at all. I could see Our President seated there looking on and I could see the silhouettes of the other officials and a pride came over me, I WAS SINGING FOR THE PRESIDENT AND MAJOR OFFICIALS WOW! Like I said I never thought I would find this amazing but I did. I LOVED THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE.
Now about the song I sang, its name is “I’m a Dreamer” I wrote this song because of some of the things that go on in this world. The tragedies were my inspiration to write this song. I wrote this that I might inspire Kenyans to be all they can be.
Kenyans lets dream!
Thank you Lord for the opportunity.
